Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control features of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car or start the motor and even locate it via the smartphone app.
Put the key fob face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull up.

Unlocking the Door

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing up. Find the black button which is situated near the edge of the body of the key fob, and gently press it to unlock a cover that hides the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped clockwise using a flathead, or coin.
Beginning the Engine
Modern Volvo key fobs provide a level convenience and functionality that is unmatched by manual keys. A key fob, as any other battery-operated device can lose its charge over time. If you notice that your key fob isn't as responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace the battery.

Remove the cover on the back of the key fob with your fingernail. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle, close to the body's edge. Slide it downwards and to the right. The cover will come out and slide off and reveal the manual key blade within! If you're unable to locate the button, search the newly revealed manual key access to find an undiscovered lever or slot.
Close the Windows
One of the hidden features on Volvo key fobs is that you can open all windows in a matter of seconds using the fobs. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even simply when you want to get some fresh air in your cabin while driving.
Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof if your vehicle has one. When you're done with the car you can lock everything by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.
You can also activate the panic alarm in your car using the key fob. This will make a loud noise that will draw attention and discourage thieves. It also helps you get home safely in the event that you've been away all night. This feature is useful for those who reside in an area that is dangerous or want to ensure the safety of your family when you are away from home.
The opening of the Tailgate
Volvo has packed its key fobs with number of useful features. They are great if you're overwhelmed with shopping or helping your kids take their sports gear home after a session.
If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it with the key fob. Simply press the button open it, and then press the same button to close it once you're done.
Use the key fob when you are ready to start your vehicle. (Don't be concerned if your battery goes out or if your vehicle doesn't start, because it also has a mechanical key slot). This is only one of the many tricks you can use to use with your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs provide an array of benefits over a conventional mechanical car key. However, they aren't able to function perfectly for long, and their batteries eventually fail. You can program your key fob at home in case you are in a rush or don't have the time to go to the store.
Place your keys, batteries, and extra keys on a clean surface. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing upwards Then, locate a small black button at the left side of the fob and slide it down and to the right. The cover should loosen and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade underneath.
You can open all the doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. The lock button also closes the sunroof and windows (if fitted) by pressing it for two seconds. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's guide should include a reset procedure.
